The Change
Effective date: September 2, 2026
The Change is designed around local-first use. This Privacy Policy explains what the app processes, what is kept on your device, and when another service is involved. You choose what to record, photograph, speak, or share.
1. What stays on your device
In the current iOS build, core app records are stored in the app’s local data store on your device. This can include your local profile and preferences, cycle dates, symptoms, mood, journal entries, check-ins, meal records, structured meal cards, saved conversations, and Autumn insight letters.
The Change does not sell these records or use them for advertising. The app does not send these records to an app-owned server for AI inference in the current iOS build.
2. Qwen 3 on-device AI
The current iOS build uses the Qwen 3 model family, including a Qwen3.5 0.8B vision-language model, through the MLX/Metal runtime on compatible devices. Text coaching and supported image or meal analysis run locally on the device.
Chat prompts, journal content, tracking records, and meal images are not sent to Qwen or another third-party AI provider for inference by the current iOS app. The model can still produce inaccurate or incomplete output; local processing is a privacy design choice, not a guarantee of correctness.
3. Voice, camera, and images
- Voice input: The app requests microphone and speech-recognition permission when you use voice input. iOS on-device recognition is requested when the device supports it. If it is unavailable, iOS may process speech through Apple’s speech service under Apple’s terms.
- Camera and meal scans: Captured frames are used temporarily for the requested local scan and are released when the scan is finished or closed. Saved meal records contain structured results and may contain a small, food-focused thumbnail kept locally on the device for journal display—not the original full-resolution camera image.
- Sharing: If you choose to export or share selected notes, the content is passed to the destination you select using the operating system’s share sheet. That destination then controls the shared copy.
4. Notifications and permissions
The app may request permission for notifications, camera, microphone, and speech recognition. Native reminders and Autumn insight reminders are scheduled locally when enabled. You can change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings. If you use a browser build and opt into browser push notifications, the browser may create a push subscription that is handled by the configured notification service.
5. Services outside the app
Apple and RevenueCat process subscription transactions, entitlement status, and related purchase information. The Change uses the result to determine whether Premium access is active; the app does not receive your payment-card number.
Apple may process speech requests when on-device recognition is unavailable. These services have their own privacy policies and terms. The Change does not control how an external service handles information after it leaves the device.
6. Backups and retention
Local records remain on your device until you delete them through available app controls, clear the app’s local storage, or uninstall the app. The operating system may include app data in a device backup according to your backup settings. The Change does not independently upload or manage those backups.
Removing the app does not automatically remove copies that you previously exported, shared, or that remain in a device backup. Manage those copies through the destination or operating-system settings that control them.
7. Security
The Change uses the platform’s app sandbox and local storage controls, but no storage or transmission method is completely risk-free. Protect your device with a passcode and keep iOS updated. Do not enter information you would not want someone with access to your unlocked device to see.
8. Children
The Change is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly direct the app to children or knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your choices
- Choose which information to enter and which optional permissions to grant.
- Delete individual records where the app provides a delete control, or clear local app data through the device.
- Turn off reminders and manage notification permissions in the app and iOS Settings.
- Manage Apple subscriptions, payment methods, and purchase history through your Apple account.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the app, models, services, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated with a revised version. Please review this page periodically.
11. Contact and related terms
Questions about how the app handles information should be raised through the support channel associated with the app listing. The Terms of Service contain the app’s AI, health, subscription, and liability terms.
