The Change
Effective date: September 2, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of The Change, a private journaling, tracking, nutrition, and AI coaching application. By using The Change, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What The Change provides
The Change helps you record information about symptoms, mood, cycles, sleep, food, journal entries, and daily check-ins. It also provides Autumn, an AI companion that can help you reflect on the information you choose to record. Features may include text and voice conversations, local meal and label analysis, nutrition guidance, reminders, and pattern-oriented reflections.
2. AI and health disclaimer
The Change is AI and can make mistakes. Autumn’s responses, meal estimates, pattern summaries, educational articles, and suggestions are informational and educational only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, a prescription, or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.
Do not use The Change for an emergency or delay urgent care because of anything in the app. For new, severe, worsening, or concerning symptoms, contact a healthcare professional or emergency service.
AI-generated content may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Check important health, medication, supplement, nutrition, and treatment decisions with an appropriately qualified clinician who knows your history.
3. Qwen 3 on-device processing
The current iOS build uses the Qwen 3 model family, including a Qwen3.5 0.8B vision-language model, through the MLX/Metal runtime on compatible devices. The model is used for local text coaching and, where supported, local image and meal analysis.
Chat prompts, saved conversations, journal content, tracking records, and meal images are not sent to a third-party AI provider for model inference by the current iOS app. Model output can still be wrong, and local processing does not make the app a medical device or create a clinician–patient relationship.
4. Your content and permissions
You decide what to enter, save, photograph, record, or share. You are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of content you provide and for protecting access to your device.
Camera, microphone, speech-recognition, and notification features require operating-system permission. You can deny or later revoke those permissions in iOS Settings. The app does not require you to grant a permission to use unrelated features.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Premium access is offered through Apple’s In-App Purchase system and the RevenueCat purchase service. Prices, billing periods, introductory offers, trial eligibility, taxes, and renewal terms are the ones shown by Apple for the product available to you at purchase time.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your Apple account settings before the renewal date. Payment, cancellation, refund, and billing questions are handled under Apple’s applicable terms. Restore Purchases is available in the app when supported.
The Change does not receive your payment-card number through the app. Premium availability is based on the entitlement returned by the purchase system.
6. Third-party services
Some optional features may use third-party services. Apple services may process speech requests or subscription transactions as described by their own terms and privacy policies. The Change is not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use The Change to violate the law, infringe another person’s rights, interfere with the app or its security, upload malicious material, or treat the app as a replacement for emergency, medical, mental-health, or nutritional care. We may limit access to the app where reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties.
8. Availability and changes
Features depend on your device, iOS version, available storage and memory, permissions, model availability, and third-party services. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, including model versions, when needed for safety, maintenance, performance, or product development.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Change is provided on an “as available” basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Change and its creators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for loss resulting from reliance on AI output, inaccurate tracking or meal estimates, service interruption, device failure, or loss of locally stored content. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information The Change processes, what stays on your device, and where optional third-party services are involved. It forms part of these Terms.
11. Updates to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app, law, or services change. The revised effective date will appear at the top of this page. Continuing to use The Change after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
